Turning Poo Poo Into Paper:

So, how can paper be made from elephant dung? Here is the 8 step process!

1. Collect naturally dried elephant dung from elephant conservation parks and bring it back to the paper making shop.

2. Pre-Rinse the elephant dung with water, leaving only the fibrous materials from the grasses, bamboo, and fruits they've eaten.

3. Afterwards, place the fibres into a giant pot of boiling water to ensure the fibres are super clean. After this thorough cleaning, any colour can be added.

4. Natural fibres from banana trees and pineapples are added to the dung mixture so the paper will be thicker and stronger.

5. Once this is all mixed together, the moist fibres are separated into small "cakes" or "wafers" of about 300-400 grams each.

6. The cakes are spread evenly over a mesh-bottomed tray measuring about 2 feet by 3 feet (60 cm x 90 cm).

7. The tray is leaned up against a tree, angled toward the sun, and allowed to dry naturally for a few hours.

8. Once dry, the sheet of paper is peeled from the mesh tray and Poo Poo Paper products begin being made!
